Slow Roll Week 19: E 55 Marina

It's time to tempt fate and creep toward the lake again! Those of you who participated in our late summer rides on the shores of Lake Erie last year will recall that we had a couple of extremely wet and wild events, rides that started out sunny and serene and ended with mad dashes in the wet back to the starting line.

The advance forecast says we're looking pretty good this time, however, so next Monday we'll head out to the East 55th Street Marina and take our chances. Considering the bizarre weather our region has had in 2023, we'll just be happy if it doesn't snow.

We gather at 6 PM and ride at 7 PM, as always; people have asked us if we've considered moving to an earlier starting time later in the season, and it's a topic of internal discussion every year. But invariably we realize that we're happy riding when it's a little bit darker if it means we can accommodate those who can't get away from work quicker to make an earlier start time.

So instead we ask that you start throwing lights all over those bikes! Let's do that thing where Slow Roll is a flowing river of light as we wind our way through the city. We've seen the videos and we know how it looks to people we pass by, and it's awesome. Let's keep it up!

Once again we'll have a chance this week to explore some potential streets of interest of Bike Cleveland's Better Streets Committee, as they identify areas of particular concern and work out ways to make them better for walking and biking. Look for signs along the route showing how that might look.
